The Southern England Magic Convention Bournemouth January 2013Important Announcement I have reluctantly decided to cancel next year's SEMC convention 2013 because of the current economy and the economic situation that many of us find ourselves in today. Many of us in the field of entertainment have had a very difficult year including dealers and in fact the general public. There is also another reason which I will address at the bottom of this statement. I have decided to run the Southern England Magic Convention every other year. This will achieve three purposes, one it will allow me to still hold the convention in Bournemouth on January 2014. Two, hopefully the economy will be on the mend and by running the convention every other year 2014 then 2016 this will allow me to expand and make the convention larger than it currently is.The SEMC since its conception has brought a number of innovations and ideas to the world of conventions and we certainly now have the opportunity by having a larger convention to bring more innovative ideas to the SEMC. Earlier this year I attended a meeting with the president, secretary and council members of the Wessex Magical Association. They have been running their one-day club convention for many years in early April. They expressed their concerns that the SEMC was too near to their convention. With this in mind I have decided to run the SEMC convention on alternate years. I would urge all of our attendeeswho come to the SEMC to try out The Wessex Magical Association Convention.
